Course Schedule and DescriptionDates: Weekend of January 31 - February 1, 2004 Dates: Weekend of February 28 - 29, 2004 Want to become a competent tier in one weekend, able to deal with a wide range of materials, fly designs, and techniques? Study with me, Dick Talleur, at Hunter's Angling Supplies in New Boston, New Hampshire. All you need to bring is your basic tool set and a couple of spools of thread; a black and a white. In fact, if you don't have these, we have loaners. Everything is provided, and only the best materials are used. The objectives of the class are to teach proper techniques and an in-depth understanding of tools and materials. This enables the student to not only tie a wide variety of flies, but to judiciously select and purchase materials. Thus, the class actually pays for itself in a fairly short period of time. The patterns are chosen as much for what they teach as for their fishing effectiveness. The curriculum progresses in a logical sequence, with each successive fly building on and reinforcing the techniques learned from those preceding. On Saturday, we tie eight "subsurface" flies; in other words, wet flies, nymphs and streamers. Sunday is all dry fly; we tie six time-proven patterns. And everyone goes home with at least one of Dick Talleur's flies from the class, complete with a signature card. Our classes tend to fill up, so please make your reservations early! Hunter's AnglingEach year, I teach a limited number of weekend fly tying classes at Hunter's Angling Supplies in New Boston, New Hampshire. As usual, I will be teaching Beginner's and Mastery Fly Tying Classes. In 2002 we added a Salmon Fly Tying Class! Why string out your fly tying training over weeks and months? My classes are so constructed as to turn beginners into competent tyers and intermediate students into masters-all in a weekend! Individual attention is the key. You'll graduate with the ability to dress the flies you want to fish with, and in admirable fashion. We supply all materials and hooks; you need bring only your tools, and anything that you'd like me (Dick) to evaluate. We have loaner tools for beginners; thus, no one has to go out and buy anything until that student has had enough experience to know what to buy. This alone could save you the price of the class and more. The shop provides a delicious lunch both days, a selection of donuts in the morning, and coffee and soft drinks throughout. All students will receive at least one Dick Talleur fly with signature card. A detailed agenda will be handed out at the beginning of the class. Hunter's Angling Supplies is located in the center of the village of New Boston, New Hampshire on Route 13, about 15 miles north of Milford.
